The College of Environmental Engineering was established in June 2006. At present, it offers four undergraduate majors including environmental engineering, water supply and drainage science and engineering, landscape architecture and landscape design.

The college actively implements the Five major projects of the construction of teaching faculty, continuously strengthens the construction of the teaching faculty, and overall level of the teaching faculty is improved continuously. At present, there are 53 in-service faculty members, including 5 professors, 20 associate professors, 19 doctors and 26 masters, and 7 of them are studying for doctoral degrees. The number of teachers with master's and doctoral degrees accounts for 92% of the total number of teachers. The college attaches great importance to the construction of double-qualified teachers, encourages and supports teachers to go to the front-line training in production and management, and improves their engineering practice ability. Currently, there are 30 double-qualified teachers. The college also employs 17 part-time teachers, including 2 foreign part-time professors.

The college focuses on strengthening the construction of disciplines and specialties, and pays attention to enhancing the comprehensive ability of running the school and the core competitiveness. So far, the college has ecology which is key discipline at the provincial level, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Industrial Pollution Control and Resource Reuse, Jiangsu Practical Education Center of Municipal and Environmental Engineering, Xuzhou Key Laboratory of Agricultural Resource Environmental Monitoring and Site Pollution Remediation, Xuzhou Research Center of Rare Plant Rapid breeding Technology, Xuzhou Industrial Engineering Technology Center of Ecological Restoration of Damaged Environment,Xuzhou Center of Sponge City Construction Engineering Technology and Environmental Monitoring and Evaluation, Xuzhou Center of Environmental Pollution Control and Prevention, and Xuzhou Center of Ecological Restoration as well as Provincial and Municipal Teaching and Research Platforms. The college has two school cultivation and construction disciplines, one school scientific research and innovation team,one school key construction specialty, and one school outstanding teaching team.

Based on serving local environmental protection and ecological civilization construction, the College takes advantage of disciplines, and actively establishes close industry-university-research cooperation relationships with local government departments and well-known large-scale enterprises. The quality of talent training, scientific research level and social service capabilities have been highlighted constantly.Significant achievements have been made in environmental pollution control, ecological environment protection, ecological restoration, resource development, utilization technologies, the introduction of new plant varieties, plant cultivation technologies, and urban landscape planning. In the past three years, the College has undertaken and completed more than 100 teaching and scientific research projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and other provincial or ministerial levels; won 28 teaching and scientific research achievement awards above the municipal level; published more than 150 papers in important academic domestic and foreign journals, including 56 papers of SCI or EI; obtained more than 290 authorized patents, including 82 invention patents, many research results have been transferred or promoted.

The College pays attention to the development of academic exchanges, broadens academic view and build academic atmosphere. At present, many teachers have visited Europe, the United States, Australia, Canada, South Korea and other countries as visiting scholars, and invited famous domestic and foreign scholars to give lectures and academic exchange activities. In recent years, the College has undertaken high-level academic meetings, such as: the Ministry of Education’s “Subcommittee for the Teaching Guidance of Environmental Sciences in Higher Education”, the China Agricultural Ecological Environmental Protection Association’s “Focus on country’s Agricultural Environmental Issues” academic seminar, “Ecological Civilization and Water Conservancy Engineering of Jiangsu Society of Science and Technology”.

The College actively implements the school management philosophy of “Big Application, Big Engineering, Big Life, Big Culture”, closely focusing on the training goal of “innovative and application type”, always adhering “People-oriented”, pays attention to strength connotation construction and actively promote specialty cultural construction, firmly establish college management philosophy of “quality-based college, talent-strengthening college, characterized college, college-enterprise cooperation”, highlight the “Centrality of education ”, effectively improve the quality of education and teaching, and cultivate a large number of high-quality talents with innovative ability. The college currently has student associations: “Oasis Environmental Protection Association”, “Xingzhi Volunteer Association”, and “National Defense Education Association”. Among them, “Oasis Environmental Protection Association”, as the student brand association, was rated as the National University Outstanding Association, Top Ten Environmental Protection Associations in Jiangsu Province, and successively received funding from the China Environmental Protection Foundation and the Jiangsu “Listen to the Yangtze River” project. In recent years, a large number of graduates have been admitted to Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, Southeast University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Nankai University, University of Pennsylvania and other famous universities to study for master's and doctoral degree. The postgraduate entrance examination rate and admission rate have increased significantly, postgraduate entrance examination rate of 2018 has reached 23%, and the employment rate of graduates in various majors has remained above 99%.
